Energy Shielding in Turbulent Times

These days are overwhelming. The intensity of our times keeps coming at us, and I find that I’m consistently talking with friends, family, and patients about how our nervous systems are holding up. One tool I recommend to just about every patient is attending to your energy shield.
What is an energetic shield? Think of it like a forcefield, a bubble, a blue light, a vine of a favorite plant, or any image or feeling that resonates for you. It’s your outermost protective layer that is dynamic and adaptable for your system’s needs. Your energetic shield is however you visualize or utilize techniques to deflect or absorb any incoming energy.
How is your energetic shield looking & feeling? Maybe it’s impenetrable, maybe it’s got a few holes here and there, maybe it’s thin as a veil. I know mine can use a little regular reinforcement these days. I like the idea that I can work with my shield and adapt it, strengthen it at any moment to help my body and mind stay grounded and clear.
Energy is all around us, vibrational depths and interactive exchanges are constantly happening & engaging our nervous system. These exchanges penetrate our shields, whether we want them to or not, and can be detrimental to a healthy lifestyle.
So, how do we build up our energetic shields? Here are some tools and practices that have helped me; you might resonate with these as well:
- Herbs, herbal sprays, crystals, jewelry, or protective amulets - Cloud of Protection mist (available through EM pharmacy) is a favorite, black tourmaline protects from negative energy - my jewelry is part of my protective shield, my beautiful armor.
- Daily rituals - pause, check in, slow down, breathwork, meditation, journal writing - help to release, ground, and regulate the nervous system.
- Movement in nature, yoga, qi gong, tai chi - grounding and strengthening practices, literally moving the energy inside your body, releasing what you don’t need to hold onto.
- Music, dance, exercise - key to feeling strong in your body, vitalizing your energy.
- Regular health maintenance treatments - acupuncture, sound healing, massage - deeply powerful medicine, energy boosting.
- Grounding w/food & nutrition - minerals & nutrients from the earth keep us nourished and balanced, ward off disease.
- Checking in with support systems - human connection expands & opens the heart, walk ‘n’ talk with a friend - human or animal.
- Monitor time spent on nervous system disruptors - too much technology/screentime/news activates & depletes the overstimulated nervous system, know your boundaries, stick to them when your shield starts to feel a little thin.
Taking just a few moments every day to feel into where your energy shield might need a little reinforcement can make a vast difference in how you walk through your day, how you feel in your interactions, and what you allow to come through or not.
