Tea & Books with Kirsten Cowan

May 08, 2025
Welcome to the Hopeful Book Club: A person reading "A Psalm for the Wild Built"

“You keep asking why your work is not enough, and I don’t know how to answer that, because it is enough to exist in the world and marvel at it. You don’t need to justify that, or earn it. You are allowed to just live. That is all most animals do.”

 A Psalm for the Wild-Built

I’ll be hosting a book club gathering at Energy Matters next month, and I hope you’ll join me for some tea and conversation about one of my (and a lot of us at Energy Matters!) favorite books of the last few years, A Psalm for the Wild-Built, by Becky Chambers.

A Psalm for the Wild-Built is a Hugo award-winning novella following the journey of Sibling Dex, a monk who travels the countryside offering tea and a listening ear to those who need both. Their journey leads them into unexpected directions and encounters, and gives us readers a vision of the world that is sorely needed right now.

A Psalm for the Wild-Built appears on lists like ‘Books That Feel Like a Hug’ and ‘Reading List for the Coming Four Years. I’d love to talk about it with you!

You can get it at the Energy Matters Bookshop (affiliate link) which supports independent bookstores and Energy Matters, or pick it up at your local library or bookstore.

There’s no charge, but space is limited - so please register at this link.

Hope to see you!
